what we offer

Gentle and Inclusive Care

We provide gentle and inclusive dental care for children, adults, and seniors with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities,  Physical Disabilities, Anxiety and Medical Issues.

We Provide a Fun First Visit

The first visit involves going to our education room where we talk about healthy oral health habits and diet, and read books or watch videos about the dental visit. It feels more like being in a classroom than a dental office.

Collaboration with Caregivers

We will find out about the patient before hand by asking questions about what we can do to make the patient feel comfortable. Caregivers will be in the room and we will work them and the patient to ensure it is a positive experience.

Making the Experience Positive

We provide ways to improve the experience such as visual aids, toys, TVs, weighted blankets, and caregivers in the operatory. We gradually introduce more at each appointment. We only do what the patient feels comfortable doing.

Prevention for Patients with Special Needs

We will provide tips on oral hygiene routines and diet. We will provide preventive dental services such as fluoride varnish, polishing, scaling, sealants and silver diamine fluoride when appropriate.

Special Needs Dentistry

We use desensitization techniques to gradually make patients feel more comfortable. If the patient needs dental treatment, we will assess the patient’s behaviour to see if treatment can be done with or without sedation and what level of sedation is required.

Frequently asked questions ahead of your next visit.

Don’t see your question listed here? We’re here to help. Visit our FAQ page for more information.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I VISIT THE DENTIST?

Most patients should visit the dentist every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning. However, depending on your oral health needs, we may recommend more frequent visits to help prevent or manage specific concerns.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes, we accept most major insurance plans as well as the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). If you are unsure about your coverage, our team is happy to help you check your benefits before your visit.

Does OHIP cover dental care in Ontario?

In most cases, OHIP does not cover routine dental care like cleanings, exams, or fillings. Some limited dental services may be covered in hospital or emergency situations, but everyday dental care is typically paid through private insurance or programs like the CDCP.
